Atlas of Duck Populations in Eastern EuropeJanis Viksne, Saulius Švažas, Alexandre Czajkowski, Mara Janaus, Alexander Mischenko, Alexander Kozulin, Andres Kuresoo, Valentin Serebryakov
Oiseaux Migrateurs du Palearctique Occidental
2011
"The Atlas of Duck Populations in Eastern Europe is a synthesis of recent knowledge on 11 duck species of Eastern Europe, in six Eastern European countries (Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, European Russia, Belarus and Ukraine)... Eurasian Widgeon, Gadwall, Common Teal, Mallard, Northern Pintail, Garganey, Northern Shoveler, Ferruginous Duck, Common Pochard, Tufted Duck, Greater Scaup.
The Atlas of Duck Populations in Eastern Europe documents the distribution range, the numbers and population trends, migration routes, the current conservation status of each species, and identifies the factors which regulate or threaten their populations. It also shows the recent changes in the distribution, behavior and survival strategy of these birds affected by climate change: the shift to the northeast of the breeding range, shorter migration routes, introduction of new routes and stopover sites, emergence of a continental wintering and development since the 1980s/1990s to partially migratory and sedentary populations right into the heart of major urban areas."

Bradt Travel Guides
2011
"Mysterious and misunderstood, Belarus remains an enigma at the heart of Europe. Bradt's Belarus gives you all the information needed to get the best from this lost world. Explore Minsk, Belarus's modern city, built as a memorial to the glory of Soviet communism or step beyond the capital and find a wealth of riches that remain largely unknown to the outside world: the natural splendour of primeval forests, rivers and lakes; flora and fauna in abundance; stunning museums empty of visitors; rich culture and tradition; historical sites dating back to the Middle Ages; beautiful churches; Russian Orthodoxy and the genuine warmth of a people who believe that the rest of the world has either forgotten them or has no interest in their wellbeing."

Bialowieza Primeval Forest
Crossbill Guides
2005
"The Bialowieza primeval forest is one of the most famous National Parks in Europe. Despite appearing to a modern visitor as a huge wilderness, this is but a remnant of the vast and forbidding forest that once stretched across much of the continent. Bialowieza lies on the border between Belarus and Poland. In fact, the border divides the forest complex into two roughly equal parts (the Polish part being only slightly smaller). Of this massive forest, only a small part is strict reserve and can truly be called a primeval forest ..... For a visitor the Bialowieza forest can be an overpowering place. It is attractive by virtue of its extraordinary wildlife and yet dauntingly vast. Armed with our guide you will be able confidently to explore this area and maximise your chance of a truly magical experience. The Crossbill Guide provides a beautifully illustrated and detailed guide to the Bialowieza primeval forest. It both introduces you to the area and provides you with itineraries that allow you to discover the area at your own pace."
